Performance
Standard vehicles have a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 285 hp. The engine may be accompanied by either a manual six-speed or an automatic eight-speed transmission. New Canandaigua owners might prefer the lighter but no less powerful turbocharged inline-four 2.0-liter engine. The little powerhouse generates 270 hp. The 3.0-liter Ecoboost V6 offers the best fuel-efficiency while providing 260 hp.
All Jeep Wrangler models are available with several 4WD options. But, the Rubicon trim level is specifically designed for off-road enthusiasts. The vehicle has electronically controlled locking differentials in the front and the rear. The low-range 4WD system has a 4:1 rock-crawling ratio. The 17-inch alloy wheels are covered with 33-inch all-terrain knobby tires for better traction.
Special side rails protect the doors from debris. The steel bumpers have removable end-caps for more intense off-road fun. The front bumper may also be equipped with a winch. Otherwise, the front and rear bumpers each come with two tow hooks.
Equip the Wrangler with a towing package and haul a maximum of 3,500 pounds.
Comfort
Sport S models add air conditioning for summer enjoyment. The Wrangler Sahara is only available in a four-door model, which makes entering and exiting more convenient. The SUVs add automatic climate control that takes care of two zones. LED lighting illuminates the interior for convenience.
Optional comfort packages include heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated exterior side mirrors.
Technology
Base Sport models enable drivers to start the engine by pushing a button. The infotainment system comes with a touchscreen measuring five inches. There is also a USB port. Sport S vehicles add keyless entry and electronically powered door locks and windows. The Saharas infotainment system touchscreen expands to seven inches. The rear of the vehicle gains two USB ports.
Options include enlarging the touchscreen to 8.4 inches. Upgrade the system to integrate with smartphones. Add Bluetooth connectivity to enable the Wrangler to become a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. The connection serves up to eight mobile devices and is strong enough to provide coverage up to 50 feet away from the SUV. The Uconnect system adds navigation ability in order to plan a journey route or find various venues in an unfamiliar location.
The optional seven-inch full-color driver digital display sits between the traditional round gauges to provide visual information pertaining to the vehicle's speed, navigation maps, or engaged security features.
Safety
The Jeep Wrangler is constructed with a high-strength steel frame that includes a rigid chassis, which maximizes protection in the event of a collision. The interior has a series of advanced airbags that deploy automatically when needed.
Standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warnings that provide drivers with warnings when active sensors detect danger. Sport models have fog lights for greater nighttime visibility. The Sahara adds automatic headlights to ensure proper illumination when needed.
Safety options include a rearview camera and the rear parking assistance system. Sensors monitor the rear of the vehicle when backing up. When the technology senses potential danger, the driver receives a warning to stop.
